FINAL OVERALL RESULTS

I'd like to give a massive kuddos to our FTL2023 Overall Winner - Aoun.  To be honest, the result felt like it was never in doubt for the past 3 weeks - unless he missed a lockout (which he was never going to do lol).

Aoun (Fedex Superstars) finished 8th last season, but he'll tell you straight up that he was never in contention (then again, not many people were as Alexei was absolutely dominant).  This season was a different story as he won the 2nd Game Week of the season and from that point forward was located near the top of the overall leaderboard.  He finished the season with an incredible 16820.6 points.  The key to his success seemed 2-fold, he did incredibly well in all of the small events, and he managed his trade usage like a pro.

Tricia (Prepare For CzechMate) finished 2nd for the 2nd straight season.  She was closer this year (269.3 points), but it never felt like she had a great opportunity to beat Aoun.  She will tell you flat out that she got alot of help from our 3rd and 4th place finishers that even allowed her to finish 2nd.  She has always seemed to run out of trades over the years, but didn't have that problem this year.  So I am sure that she will take some solace out of that achievement.  In the end, she may wonder if the phrase, "always a bridesmaid and never a bride" will continue to describe her FTL fate.

Dragan (Nadal's Forehand) finished 12th last season, so his 3rd place finish is a hell of an achievement.  He finished just 307.9 points behind our leader, which is a far cry from him being 990 points behind last years winner.  Dragan had an absolutely exceptional season as he won 3 Game Weeks (4th, 35th and Wimbledon) and the Final Month of the season.   Sadly, the question of WHAT IF may come into play for him, as he missed the lockout for the 33rd GameWeek and as a result ended up with 2 extra trades.  Its a safe bet that at worst he finishes 2nd, but could he have ended up with the Overall Victory if not for that mishap?

Samir (Mirzini Sinovi) had one of the best FTL debut's in history as he finished 4th.  He finished just 316.8 behind our leader, and was in 2nd place before a lack of trades finally caught up to him.  He won the Canada Open Game Week, the 8th Month and the FTL Cup.  The question that Samir will be asking himself going forward is just how many extra trades did he need to save earlier in the season to have him still have a shot at winning?  Was it 2? 3? or did he maybe need like 5 more?  I've always found that saving trades while still accumulating points is the trickiest part about our game.

Anthony (Alcarazian Domination) finished 5th, but was never in contention for the victory.  I don't know if he ever thought that a top 3 finish was a reasonable possibility to be honest.  He finished 422.6 points behind our winner and was never within a 150 points of 2nd at any point.  Even with the missed lockout from Dragan, and Samir running out of trades, he still couldn't find a way past either of them.  Still a heck of a finish from one of our previous winners.

I'd like to give a shoutout to the remainder of our top 10 managers (in order)

Mathieu (New Cal Aces), Nikhil (Nbladeweilder), Jamie E. (The Umpire Strikes Back), Faris (Henman United), Mikhail (Roger That)
