Introducing Custom Leagues

Introducing Custom Leagues

Hey FTLers! We're excited to share some big news about a feature many of you have been asking for: custom leagues. Now you can create your own leagues, compete with friends, and build communities around your favorite way to play fantasy tennis.

What's New

The biggest addition is the ability to create and manage your own leagues. You can now:

  • Create public or private leagues with custom names and descriptions
  • Join leagues created by other users
  • Track separate leaderboards for each league

League Types

We now have four different types of leagues:

Official Leagues

  • The original, core FTL leagues
  • Global League
    • Everyone gets added to this league
  • Level 1 Supporters
    • All FTL supporters get added to this league
    • Prizes for the top finishers on the season
  • Level 2 Supporters
    • All the benefits of Level 1, plus:
    • Prizes for weekly and monthly winners

Public Leagues

  • Any FTL supporter can create a public league
  • Open to all FTL supporters to join
  • League leaderboard is publicly viewable (even to non-members)
  • Perfect for themed competitions or specific playing styles

Private Leagues

  • Any FTL supporter can create a private league
  • Join using the league ID and a secret code
  • Must be an FTL supporter to join
  • Only league members can view the league leaderboard
  • Ideal for friends, clubs, or private groups

Sponsored Leagues

  • Created by FTL admins for organizations that want to sponsor a league
  • Open to all players who want to join these communities

How to Use the New Features

Creating a League

  1. Head to the "All Leagues" page for the current season
  2. Click "Create New League" (FTL Supporters only)
  3. Choose between public or private
  4. Add a name and description
  5. For private leagues, share your league ID and secret code with intended members

Joining Leagues

  1. Browse the "All Leagues" list to find official, public, and sponsored leagues
  2. Use the "Join Private League" option to enter a league ID and secret code
  3. Switch between "All Leagues" and "My Leagues" views to track your competitions

Private Leagues

After you have created a private league, you'll need to share the league information with your friends so they can join the league. To get this information, go to your private league's page and click the small "info" button under the league's name:

This will pop up a dialog where you can copy the details:

Send those details to your friends, and they can enter it into the "Join Private League" form:
