Game Week 18 results

Here are your winners from Game Week 18.

Daria Kasatkina took the ladies title in Eastbourne defeating Leylah Fernandez in the final.

Taylor Fritz won the men's event in Eastbourne defeating Max Purcell in the final.

Alejandro Tabilo continued his great season by winning the Mallorca title against Sebastian Ofner.

Diana Shnaider defeated Donna Vekic to win the WTA title in Bad Homburg.

Here are the final FTL (global) standings for the game week.

This has to be the tightest game week in the history of FTL with 4 teams separated by less than 2 points.  Crazy!

Congratulations to Silvi (fc Vepyrite) for winning the game week and congrats to John O'Mara (Wasaga Beach Warriors) for winning the weekly prize as the highest level 2 team!

But I think we have to do justice to all 4 contenders by looking at all of the teams involved in the chase.

Lets look at fc Vepyrite and Wasage Beach Warriors first.

Silvi had both Eastbourne winners (Fritz and Kasatkina) and crucially had Fritz as Captain which in a week as tight as this one made all the difference.

John also had Fritz but as a KP, Eastbourne runner up Leylah Fernandez and Mallorca winner Tabilo. An excellent team deserving of the weekly prize. If he'd placed any of these 3 in the Captain spot instead of Bianca, he would have won the game week comfortably.

Here is the head to head between Cam (Tennis Talk) and Billy B (The Bakery) who ultimately finished in 3rd and 4th in the game week.

Cam (Tennis Talk) had a pretty remarkable game week given that he was only able to field six players.  And two of them flopped (Daniel and Kenin).   The crucial pick was Kasatkina as Captain which returned a very handsome 133 points. He also had Eastbourne runner up Fernandez and Mallorca runner up Ofner.

Billy B (The Bakery) also suffered from player placement.  He had both Eastbourne finalists but preferred Shelton as Captain to Kasatkina or Fernandez which ultimately cost him the game week.

Major props to all 4 -  Silvi, John, Cam and Billy for an excellent game week.  Having discussed their line ups and player placements, we have to get back to the fact that they were only separated by 2 points. TWO POINTS ladies and gentlemen. I mean what is that?  A couple of breaks of serve, a few aces.

FTL is bonkers!

  1. Bonkers, indeed!

I didn't notice that it ended up SO CLOSE! And to have that many different combinations arrive at the same total, too... 🤯
